In Pictures: DJ Sumbody’s All-White Memorial Service

An all-white memorial service was held on Wednesday to celebrate the life of Monate Mpolaye hitmaker DJ Sumbody.
The Amapiano producer was murdered in the early hours of Sunday morning along with his bodyguard who was only identified as Sbu.

DJ Sumbody’s all-white-themed memorial service was held at Lewende Woord in Centurion, Gauteng and because of limited space, only close friends, family and colleagues attended.
Guests included friend and collaborator Cassper Nyovest, Carpo, Vettys, his business partner Kagiso Setsetse, Junior Taurus and Two Six among many others.

Addressing mourners at the memorial service, Cassper Nyovest revealed how he ended up on DJ Sumbody’s hit Monate Mpolaye. Nyovest said he was never keen on the song Monate Mpolaye and he only did it because Sefoka asked him, “it became 1 of our biggest hit..he was an old soul. It was like you had a father & friend”

Guests wore white in honour of DJ Sumbody who was meant to host an all-white party on the Sunday he was shot and killed in Sandton.

Oupa John Sefoka’s family also released the funeral details saying the late wheel spinner will be laid to rest on Saturday 26 November in Ga-Masemola, Apel Fourways Cross in Limpopo. The funeral service will commence at 0700hrs.

In related news, circumstances surrounding the death of DJ Sumbody are under investigation with police appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed they received a complaint about a shooting incident at the corner of Woodmead Drive and Woodland Drive in Sandton at about 12:30am on Sunday.
He added that Gauteng police are searching for suspects and investigating the shooting incident.
