‘This Is How It’s Done’ – Mzansi Schools MaMkhize As Sonia Mbele Addresses Son’s Abuse Allegations

Sonia Mbele released a statement on Wednesday in response to abuse allegations levelled against her son Donell Sedibe by his girlfriend Reokeditswe Makete.
She condemned Donell’s behaviour adding that he has to take accountability for his actions and that she will allow the law to take its course.

Sonia Mbele also said she supports Reokeditswe during this period although she would have preferred she came to her first.
We publish the full statement below:
I woke up this morning to a different world, a world I thought I had long buried. From the age of 17 to 26 I was with a man who was abusive, physically, psychologically and emotionally.
I’m mentioning this so that you understand that as a woman who has suffered ALL kinds of abuse, I do not stand for, support or condone such stance. These are struggles I’ve spoken about extensively in my early career to encourage other women in similar situations.
I not only welcomed Reokeditswe Makete into my home but I treated her as a daughter and worked with her in support of her career in the entertainment industry, and right now I would like to reassure her that she still has my love and full support.
As a mother I wish she had come to me to inform me on what was going on because finding out on social media broke my heart. I’ve always been there, I’ve always been supportive.
I now realise I should have taken preventative measures much earlier such as counselling and/or child therapy, but sometimes the mistake we tend to make as African single mothers is to assume and hope that things will work out for the best meanwhile certain past behaviours can affect generations to come.
With that said Donell will face his demons and take accountability for his actions and let the law take its course. I refuse to raise a man like his father. Rehab, therapy and internal healing will prevail.
Thank you South Africa.

In response to Sonia Mbele, South Africans took to Twitter and schooled reality television star and entrepreneur Shauwn Mkhize popularly known as MaMkhize.
When abuse allegations were levelled against her son Andile Mpisane by his Baby Mama Sithelo Shezi, MaMkhize released a statement denying that she witnessed Andile abuse Sithelo in her presence.
After Sonia Mbele released her statement condemning her son, Mzansi felt MaMkhize should have done the same and they made their feelings known.
Below are some of the reactions:
Someone tag Mam’khize and show her how it’s done, it’s true what they say, all the money in the world can’t buy you class.

@kwa_mammkhize Kanje sisi. Kanje

One of the most genuine statements ever released on here 🥺

Mam K would never release such …@SekoalengLolo

@TheeSonia thank you very much for how you responded to this matter. As a black single mother I completely agree with you. We forget that any form of abuse our children experience affect them and the boys are likely to mimmick and the girls are likely to tolerate in their spouses
